Brian Oberlin Note Readers and Jammers Session
Join Michigan's mandoliner Brian Oberlin in a masse ensemble for all instrumentalists. This is a two-part event and everyone is invited. The first portion will be focused on reading music (in notation and tablature) and the music will be easy arrangements of music from the 1800s and early 1900s. Imagine a 40-piece guitar, mandolin and violin ensemble playing light classical music and you have the right idea. The second half of the program will be for musicians of all levels that enjoy playing music by ear. Song charts will be written on a board and folks will learn to play in a large group. Improvisation is a component for those who choose to do so. If you have ever been to a jam then you know just what to expect. If you prefer to attend and only listen, then by all means do so!!
